Guests and Speaker
Kenny Wilson introduced his guest, Katie Anderson, sister-in-law to our speaker. Katie works at Alpha Graphics with Kenny.
Lisa introduced speak our speaker, Beth Anderson, who gave a very interesting talk on the history of RYLA. First camp was held in 1991, with 41 boys. Next year it became co-ed.  RYLA focuses on the best of the best, as opposed to those at risk.  There is a significant selection process – which includes coding to insure diversity of talent in the various cabins. There are ‘themed ‘days. Lights are out 11-12 (doesn’t happen) and up again early.
Leadership styles are identified (Lions, Koalas, Peacocks and Owls - referred to as the RYLA Zoo). Randy suggested ARMadillos – LB and Sally can be first picks. Past subjects included environmental issues and bullying. Camp comprised of ½ day facilitation, ½ day activity. 4 years ago created ‘day 7’, usually the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Beth talked about creating a ‘legacy’ project and college summit in January.
Beth drew Patty’s ticket – no luck yet.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15
