Rotarian Alan Fielding (left) and President John Cress (right) introduced Melisa Garcia (center), $1,000 High School Scholarship recipient at our June 1, noon meeting. She is a senior at Touchet High School where she has held a leadership role on the cheerleader team. Melisa earned her way to the Future Business Leaders of America State Competition in public speaking.

Though many obstacles have come her way, Melisa has shown great determination in overcoming them all to become the first in her family to attend college where she intends to pursue a Bachelor’s of Education with a major in Spanish. Her goal is to be a high school Spanish teacher.

The Rotary Club of Walla Walla is pleased to award Melisa Garcia this $1,000 scholarship, a young woman with unquenchable determination to achieve what to many in her position would be unattainable. Best wishes from all of us!
