Chair of our Rotary Foundation Committee, Larry Hoof (left) presented Paul Harris recognition plus four to Sam Wells (right) at our February 8, noon meeting…

“Our program today is all about education. We all know how important it is for children to receive a good quality education which can only be delivered in communities that care and support the efforts of teachers and staff.

It was just a couple of weeks ago we were treated to an excellent presentation by Kathryn Witherington of Junior Achievement on the great work being done by volunteers who make presentations to kids in school about entrepreneurial thinking and how money works.

Today we get to applaud one of those volunteers who had been active with Junior Achievement in classrooms for ten years.

With three kids working their way through the school district, you might appreciate the vested interest this father has had in being involved.
About five years ago, he amped up his participation by putting himself up for election to the school board and has served as board president and is now in his second four-year term.

He’s been an active member of this club since 2004. He’s been on the Foundation committee and more recently, he’s the chair of the Tree Planting committee.
In addition to his love for kids, his affection for trees, he has demonstrated his concern for the well-being of animals by serving on the board of the Humane Society for six years. And he wonders why he doesn’t have more time for hiking, camping and pickleball!

It’s not hard to figure out that the guy who has been recognized for not just one, two or three Paul Harris Fellow Awards is Sam Wells. Today he gets his fourth! Thank you, Sam!”
