At our January 30, noon meeting, Chair of the Youth Services Committee Bill Erickson (right) presented Cub Scout Pack 306, chartered by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a check for $500. Rotarian and scout leader Peter Early (left) accepted on behalf of the Pack, along with his three sons.

Pack 306 serves both boys and girls from Kindergarten to the 5th grade by developing citizenship and providing service opportunities as emphasized the Scout Oath and Law.

Typically, in the Scouting program, the budget is set and dues and fees are paid in September to meet the yearly expenses of the Pack. This past November, the national office of BSA announced that membership fees for youth members would double, from $33 to $66 per year. This increase basically depleted the expense budget of the Pack for the year, limiting the purchase of awards and badges, activities, and summer camp day. The Rotary Club of Walla Walla is pleased to be able to help alleviate the shortfall as part of our commitment to helping foster good citizenship and leadership skills in Walla Walla valley youth.
