Once again the Comstock Park Rotary stepped up and made a big difference in the community. Under the leadership and tutelage of Dan Clark, we were able to complete the Zinser Elementary project. The project started a year ago in the Zinser Elementary court yard with the dismantling and removal of trees, shrubs, wild grasses, plants bricks, etc. The project concluded with a well-represented group of Rotarians and school support to plant new bushes, trees, and cover material. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in any way with creating a learning environment for the students at Zinser Elementary. I look forward to all of the new and exciting things we will be doing down the road. The weather has turned the corner: warm days and cool nights. It is time to enjoy the outdoors!

Rotary and Zinser Elementary

According to the school's website, "Kenowa Hills Zinser Elementary is a school where all students have opportunities to get involved, make connections, grow a deeper understanding of learning targets, and succeed both academically and socially."

Zinser Elementary is in the Kenowa Hills school district and educates students grades K-5. The school has a large courtyard that was in need of a renovation. Clark's Landscape created a design that features native Michigan plants so that it can be used as a teaching lab and an outdoor classroom. Clark's Landscape constructed some of the more technical parts of the design first, including a waterfall/pond for the several turtles inhabiting the courtyard (see photo on left). Comstock Park Rotarians, friends and family, as well as a parent group from the school helped to install the plants and mulch in August 2020.

A large difference was made in the community with this project! Students will really enjoy some outdoor learning opportunities in this newly revitalized peaceful space.
