Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton helps out at Landor Races
The Landor Races went off with a bang, as usual, last weekend and the Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton was heavily involved in proceedings.
For the second year running, the club managed the bar and raised valuable funds for the community.
Rotarian Peter Sukeinnik, who led the team of 21 members and friends, said it was a ”hugely successful weekend”.
“We had 21 dedicated members who gave up their time, considerable money in getting there and back, and a series of punctures during the week-long trip. We were also hampered by flash flooding and one of our members had to extricate a vehicle from two-near-metre-high water and tow it back to Meekatharra.
“Without our group’s dedication, we would not have been able to raise valuable funds that will be used in running our various Rotary programmes,” he said.
The team manned the bar for four days as nearly 1500 people enjoyed the two days of racing, featuring 15 races, and a full day of gymkhana events.
It was the 101st running of the landmark event at the Eastern Gascoyne Racing Club’s remote venue.
