Guest Speaker Pastor Dave Kranjec introduced by Laurie Dines
Dave originally came to Australia from Canada as a pack backer. He is now a Pastor of the Living Word Church.
Dave enjoys talking and sharing and he sees similarities in the strengths between the business community and the church community: We have to be leaders and are main business is people.
People are the pillars, processes and products.
Originally from Yugoslavia, his parents fled Yugoslavia under Tito and migrated to Canada. But Dave had a poor relationship with his father. He was dealing with a strict Slavic mindset in a democratic environment.
So Dave left Canada at twenty two and came to Australia as a back packer. He left Canada on minus thirty five degree day and arrived in Australia on plus thirty five degree days. LOL – seventy degrees of separation!
After a short time he developed a relationship with Jesus Christ. At the same time he was working in a warehouse, firstly managing the warehouse and then to managing the warehouse's transport. He was also becoming a street evangelist.
It was around this time he began to recognise the similarities between religion and business.
He had started out in the Catholic Church but then moved to the Pentecostal, the Baptist and eventually the Anglican.
To understand if there was any conflict between business and the church Dave became the Lord's Servant and soon understood in business that you were apprenticed while in religion you were discipled. Both of these require strong leadership and teams. Business and the church must create a new generation of leaders to take them into the future.
Questions-
Laurie Dines? How did you relate to the truckies? (transport operators)
Karen Godfrey? Is training in business and church similar ie. Servant leadership?
Dave concludes by recommending a book called “The Five Dysfunctions Of A Team”. It is written by Patrick Lencioni.
Guest Speaker thanks by Grant Woodhams.
