Guest Speaker DG Ineke Oliver brings us up to date with some developments in Rotary in WA. Hugh Lavery will be joining the new District Leadership team.
Current Assistant Governor Tom Gorman will be stepping down and Tom Maina will be taking on the role in the new one District structure and will be a Club Partner.
As a matter of interest her husband Geoff is to be inducted into Rotary.
Ineke describes herself as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend.
She likes helping people and sees that as a major attraction of being involved in Rotary.
Her focus in Rotary is on our public image.
DG Ineke congratulates us on the recent Radio Auction and the way we use our Facebook page. IO believes we could improve our image and urges us to become more involved in Instagram and Linked-In.
With forty three members the RCGG is one of the biggest clubs in the State. A third of our number are women. We have seven members who have served Rotary for over thirty years. We have a lot of Rotary credibility.
She has placed on our tables two brochures - one from Australian Rotary Health targeting mental health, the other advertising our joint District conference on 17th and 18th of February in Mandurah. She also advises that the RI conference this year is in Melbourne on 27th May. Registrations are open.
With respect to the joint District Conference, Rotary has opened up the conference to include a panel discussion with youth leaders (non Rotarians) to discuss some of the challenges facing our communities.
IO has also provided some information on RI President Jennifer Jones' initiative to provide 500 prints of art that will be auctioned around the world to raise funds for our End Polio campaign. Two of these prints will be at our joint District Conference. One will be raffled, the other auctioned.
Every Friday we receive an email from DGIO. She urges us to read it. If something is missing please contact Judy Dinnison who will include any of our club's activities in that email.
With the merging of Districts 9455 and 9465 WA will become one District and IO will be the first DG of that merged entity.

The theme of the joint District Conference in Mandurah is Imagine the Future. Ineke believes the general public don't know enough about us. Her first challenge as DG saw her asking Rotarians to pull down old Rotary signs that looked tired, worn and faded. The reasoning she said was we need to be seen in good condition and up to date.
If you can find a book called Adventure in Service, it is a book about Rotary written in 1949! It describes what you can do in Rotary. IO says 99+% of us joined R
otary because we were asked. Ask people to join! Plus always wear your Rotary pin. It is an essential part of our public image.
