Marie Goerger - 2011 RYLA Student
The program started with President Pam Erlandson presenting Marie with a certificate for “Outstanding Participation” during RYLA.
Marie told the club of her experiences at the camp speaking about her "family" and the activities and speakers that they experienced. In particular she spoke of what she had learned from the study of Sean Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens". She then took many questions from the club members. Laughing she spoke of the "Fine Dining" experience where they are taught the proper way ("it's really hard") to eat.
Marie is herself a highly effective teen ranking high academically and in "Service Above Self" raising over $ 7,500.00 last spring for the Minot flood victims 5 K of which went to the Salvation Army and 2.5 K of which went to the families of a school in Minot whose principal is the daughter of a Wyndmere faculty member. Her ACT score is 33 and she will be applying to eight universities including Tulane where she has already been accepted and offered their highest award for academic achievement, basically a half ride scholarship. Her interest is biology.
