Dolores Williams

Dolores Bernice Stockton Williams, daughter of Charles and Bernice Stockton was born October 13, 1928 in Eureka, California and passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma of natural causes on September 6, 2011. Dolores was married to Harley Clifford Williams in Guam and is survived by her 4 sons, Pat Williams and wife, Regina, Elk City, OK, Paul Williams and wife, Debra, Foster City, CA, Mark Williams and wife, Carroll, Pflugerville, TX, and Scott Williams, Petulma, CA; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and countless other family members that became members of her family as a result of her humanitarian efforts in Honduras.

After she lost her husband in 1972, Dolores spent her remaining years working with the Peace Corp in Central America and then started her own humanitarian organization, "Casa Rosada" in Honduras in 1984. At Casa Rosada, Dolores filled her daily life by coordinating numerous humanitarian shipments into Honduras, assisting other humanitarian groups to locate needy villages and directly helping the poorest of the poor with food and medical programs. It was not uncommon to hear that she was "taking in" another homeless child left at her door step or starting another new school for children in a poor mountain community.  She arranged for numerous surgical operations for children in the US and often cried when the children were returned to their respective families after seeing their tears of joy when getting their healthy child back.

Although she was not a Rotarian, Dolores truly practiced the club's motto of "Service Above Self" and was honored with a Paul Harris Award for her efforts for changing and/or saving countless lives through her dedication to the poor in Honduras.

Dolores truly enjoyed receiving the simple "thank you's" of a blessing or a smile from those she had helped. But her teaching to others "the gift of giving of one's self" was her greatest gift that she gave herself.

Casa Rosada was supported by several organizations including the Rotary Clubs of Foster City, CA and Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Honduras, along with numerous other groups and individuals that allowed Dolores to live the life of her dreams.  We are sure she is sending her thanks to all...
