District Governor visits club
The visit started with the District Governor and Ann along with the Assistant District Governor for Area Four, Marilyn Chambers, a member of the Wahpeton club, meeting with the club’s Board of Directors where he received reports from President Pam Erlandson, the other officers and the directors. He offered some suggestions as well as praised the club on completing the bus project and the great use that the English double deck bus has been put to since it was turned back to the Parks and Rec. Department. In particular he commended the club on the “Fill the Bus” project, a three event project being done in cooperation with the Breckenridge Rotary Club to aid the Richland-Wilkin Food Pantry. He also complimented the club on its participation in the Annual Giving Program of The Rotary Foundation.
At noon he and Ann attended the club meeting, also at the Hughes
Shelter, where he presented many Paul Harris pins (see separate stories on this
page) to award people for their work on the bus reconstruction and to recognize
their donations to The Rotary Foundation (TRF).
He also awarded the club’s “Rotarian of the Year” to Kim Nelson (see separate
story on this page). In his address to the club he continued his
theme of complimenting the club for its many endeavors, spoke briefly of the
changes coming in TRF’s grants program as well as encouraging club members to
attend the District Conference in Cloquet, MN during April of 2012 as well as
the International Conference in Bangkok, Thailand in May.
