During a regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Wahpeton, members were pleased to hear from Jeff Bass - Assistant Director of the Richland-Wilkin County Kinship.  Mr. Bass discussed the local organization's relationship with the national Kinship program.  Our local Kinship has a great deal of autonomy so that it may tailor programs to meet the identified needs of our local community.  Jeff went on to discuss a program aimed at young teenagers which sets out to help them develop critical life skills.  Richland Wilkin Kinship continues to focus primarily on its mission to "improve lives by establishing quality mentoring relationships with youth, between the ages of 5 and 16, and caring adult volunteers to promote stability, support, friendship, and community."

Mr. Bass added that, as always, they need more adult volunteers; he wagers that if they were fulfill their current waiting list of youth seeking a mentor today, they could easily identify a new group of youth tomorrow that could benefit from the Kinship programming.
