So what is this "Cloud" thing?
The cloud is an advertising gimmick of software creators. NO!! A cloud is a visible mass of water droplets in the sky, correct? Well maybe! Under the heading “The Status of Technology” MinDak’s network administrator Dennis Knudson explained the concept of the cloud to the members of the Wahpeton Rotary at their regular meeting Tuesday, January 17th at Prante’s .

He described how in the past we communicated with language to hunt the woolly mammoth yet today we use apps on our iPhone to hunt for bargains days prior to and map out the “hunt” on Black Friday. Mr. Knudson took the members from when the need for a ten gig hard drive was questioned to the “virtual” dating of his fifteen year old and the new magic cube that projects a useable keyboard on a table. He explained 4K television where one can see three dimensional images without glasses (glasses project images out; the new technology projects in). Oh yes the cloud – a system of the natural flow of information using shared resources allowing your information to be retained anywhere limiting your physical need for storage space and, soon, even providing you with virtual software that is the most up to date version and will not need to be installed on your personal computer. It is all about concept.
