Rotary's Community Blood Screening

 For several years now the Rotary Club of Wahpeton has provided a chemical and blood cell screening for the community in co-opertion with Saint Francis Healthcare Campus (hospital), Essentia Health and Sanford Health (medical clinics).  Medicare and insurance companies had started disallowing charges for "screening" requiring an appropriate  know diagnosis be attached to the requisition for any blood test.  Image
 

 This is a valve between $ 300.00 and $ 400.00 for each client at a cost of $45.00; all volunteer labor, no records (the patient is sent their results and what they do with them is their business), only the reagents are paid for.  EconoFoods (a supermarket) donates the cookies, orange juiice and coffee (the clients have to be fasting) for after the blood draw.  In the insterests of full disclosure the project is also a minor fundraiser for the Wahpeton Club as any net funds are incorporated into the club's operating budget.  Primarily it is a commmunity service.Image
