FAMILY AND FRIENDS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Craig James announced that he and Colette have been blessed with a fourth grandchild born to their youngest daughter Elissa in Hong Kong on 19 July.

Members Attendance: For reasons unknown, confirmation of attendance at the meeting could not be calculated on the night, but the meeting learnt the attendance at the meeting of 16 July was 72%
COMMITTEE REPORTS AN ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Charitable Trust: (Russell Hawkins): No Report
Club Secretary’s Report (Craig James): The following highlights of the 16 July Board Meeting were reported.
- RYE Inbound Student Carlos Barlotto arrives next Monday 23 July, David invited any member of the Board to join the welcoming party with him.
- PP will supply a bike helmet and a safety lock for Carlos.
- DE initiated discussion on innovative fundraising for the coming year. General discussion followed including;
- Taking over Broadway Markets from RC Nedlands (not supported)
- SH suggested;
- Crowd Funding;
- Rotary Shark attack insurance.
- Esther Foundation still considered important for the Club.
- CJ spoke to the RI Goals which RI invites Clubs to report against. The Goals should be raised with Committees for information, learning and assessment of what the Club should set as goals within each category.
- A discussion was had on the important role that Committees have in keeping members engaged. CJ suggested that Directors should be delegators, inspirers and facilitators; CJ expressed the view that conducting short committee meetings at NGC missed the opportunities for fellowship/engagement that meetings at a members’ homes after Club meetings can engender.
- DE reported that he had asked Anita Burke to enthuse the medicos in the Club to pursue the challenge of marshalling District 9455 and 9456 Rotarians to donate more blood that Woodside Petroleum.
- PM challenged the Board to consider the Club’s unique qualities;
- The club’s strength is its members’ connection with people of substance in the community who should be the focus in selling the Club’s activities and events. These people should be involved as supporters/friends not necessarily as members.
- The Club should conduct events that are high quality, exclusive and attractive, such as the Corsini Collection, Carrolup Collection and WA Ballet visits and the Business Lunch.
- Connections made through these events afford greater opportunities for leverage of the associations.
- The List of important Club days has been prepared and will be discussed with Committees to confirm Event dates suggested by it are acceptable and to confirm which Event will be allocated to which Committee.
- The International Dinner will be hosted by Vocational Services and renamed the Fellowship Dinner.

- Agreed that setting a ceiling of Club membership was so academic as not to be worthy of consideration. The sense was ‘go for it” without deviation from the traditional vetting processes.

- Agreed to set Club Fees at $315 pa plus a voluntary donation of $150 which will be paid to the Rotary Foundation. It was noted:
- The fee was last increased in 2013;
- $94.30 is paid to RI as Membership Dues;
- $110.00 is paid to District 9455
- $40.00 is paid for Rotary Downunder magazine;
- The balance is retained for RCD Administration expenses (presentation kits, badges, PE Training Seminars, Web Site) and to subsidize attendance at the Christmas Soiree and Anniversary Dinner, Guest Speakers and RYE Inbound Student meals.

Club Treasurer’s Report (Anthony McGrath): Anthony announced that Membership Invoices will be issued shortly and thanked CJ for reporting the fee increase with words to the effect “better you than me”. In addition to Club Fees Members will also be invited to make a voluntary donation of $150 to Rotary International.
Club Service: (John Bolto/John Murdoch): Guess who’s coming to Dinner will be held on Friday 17 August. Over 40 acceptances and 2 hosts have volunteered. JB is looking for more acceptances and 4 or 5 more host venues.
Community Service: (Peter Robertson): No report.
Vocational Service: (Peter Marfleet. No Report. David Smith will send out information for the WA Ballet visit. There is still a waiting list so anyone who has booked but can now not attend should contact David.
Foundation and International Service: (Peter Webb): Ken Ilett will be visiting Bali next week and hopes to meet with the RC Dempasar to push for the acquittal which is hold up the RCD application for Global Funding.
Public Relations: (Kevin Jackson): Kevin is attending neighbouring Rotary Club’s meetings observing and promoting the sale of Shopping Bags
Membership: (Peter Panek): A Committee meeting will be held in the next week prior to PP leading the RCD Group Fellowship tour to Bali.
Youth: (Kim Smith/Leon Lorenzen): No report.
Sergeant (Trevor Gorey): There was celebration and taxing of birthdays, anniversaries, the universal wine table, footy tipper winner, Eagles and Dockers celebration tax, future anniversaries, lapel badge tax, and grandchild celebration.
President’s Report;
President David reminded Members;
- that they should be ever conscious of the open invitation/duty to invite guests who may be potential new members to meetings.
- The series of Rotary Institute Seminars coming up in September and October
President David called on Tony Chien to speak on the experience of Robyn and him on the District 9455 Fellowship Group visit to Oregon USA with 3 other couples from the District.
Tony reported that the trip was most enjoyable and urged members to avail themselves of the opportunity to participate when it next arises.
A reciprocal visit will be made to District 9455 by the Oregon Rotarian hosts in September. Tony will invite the visitors to our Club.
President Tony thanked Tony for his initiative and presentation but declined to give him a cake.
CLUB FORUM: President David opened the meeting for discussions of any Members’ issues of which there were none.
