- Ian Ritchie is in Bethesda, and would like to catch up with any / all friends. Please ring his wife Jackie first to arrange a time as he has a number of family catching -up with him.

- Stewart Brash noted that George Melville is in Warne aged care home in Cottesloe.

Charitable Trust: (Russell Hawkins):
- Russell reported that the Draft Reports have been done by their wonderful treasurer Ken Ilett and they indicate the Trust is in rude good health. Total funds are above $800k. A meeting will be held tomorrow night.
- Still some case of wine left to purchase.
Club Secretary’s Report (Craig James): Nothing to report.
Club Treasurer’s Report (Leon Lorenzen):
Approx. half the members have paid their subs, thank you. Others please attend to.
Leon has negotiated with the ANZ for a card machine on good terms. Stay tuned.

- Chris Cole reported that next weeks meeting we will present Mark Zuvela from Fremantle Sea Rescue a pride of workmanship award for the great work that they do.

- Committee meeting tonight. They have a lot of ideas to float around and make some decisions.
Public Image: (Kevin Jackson):
- Committee meeting tomorrow. Next week he will unveil details for the Ballet “Alice in Wonderland”.

Probus is looking for a new District Chair. Very worthwhile organisation. The District Probus Chair provides Probus clubs with support and works on establishing new Probus clubs. If you are interested then contact Ian Murray the WA Director of Probus.

GUEST SPEAKER: (Pauline Charman - Harry Perkins Institute)

Pauline was introduced by Ken Ilett.
Pauline’s role with the Institute is in community education. Her team is to educate and encourage. They do this because they know that the Institute Saves Lives.!
Harry Perkins was a Bruce Rock farmer and Chairman of Wesfarmers.

They have an 8-storey facility in the Charles Gardiner precinct. The community can come along and learn what researches do. Come & look what DNA looks like.
They are the leading Adult Medical Researches in WA, in;
- Cancer
- Heart Disease
- Diabetes
- Rare Muscular diseases
They collaborate worldwide with researches.
Perkins is a registered charity. Perth people need to fund the research that happens. The government has given them great facilities but they need to go from grant to grant to fund the stuff that happens.
However, note that very exciting outcomes are coming out at a faster and faster rate. It costs approx. $2mill per year to fund the labs!
Five things that we can do;
- Commit to a fundraising event
- Volunteer
- Visit their open day – 24 August 2019
- Donate
- Champion the future
