Backpacker medics

I am an Advanced Care Rescue Paramedic, trained by St Johns Ambulance WA - notably the highest level of training for on-road paramedics in Australia. In addition to working in frontline emergency medicine for almost a decade, I spent 3 years operating in remote and austere environments in various industrial fields as a remote area and site paramedic.

Over the last three years I have been expanding my scope as a rescue technician, focusing on confined space and vertical rescue. As part of a four strong team, we provide medical and rescue cover for contractors and defence personnel as they conduct maintenance on NAVY vessels in Perth and Sydney. This is an active role, during which we use our skills every day in both an operational capacity as well as training and drills. For almost 2 years I have had the responsibility of the Team Leader/paramedic role on our largest vessel to date, the HMAS Choules in Sydney.
