As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan.
More than a century ago, we pioneered a new model of service leadership grounded in person-to-person connections. Today, those connections are a network that spans the globe—bridging cultural, linguistic, generational, and geographic barriers—and shares the vision of a better world. As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan.
This is Rotary’s Action Plan through 2024: to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt.
Today in History:
1858: U.S. President James Buchanan and Britain's Queen Victoria exchange messages inaugurating the first transatlantic telegraph line. 1896: Gold is discovered in the Klondike of Canada's Yukon Territory, setting off the Klondike Gold Rush. 1984: The safe of the sunken ocean liner Andrea Doria is opened on TV after three decades, revealing cash and certificates but no other valuables. 1987: Astrological alignment of sun, moon and six planets marks what believers maintain is the dawning of a New Age. 1988: IBM introduces artificial intelligence software.
"You can't connect the dots looking forward, You can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something -- your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
― Steve Jobs
Food for Thought:
Whole grains, cereals, and pseudocereals
Whole grains, cereals, and pseudocereals are good sources of complex carbs, fiber, and iron, as well as B vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and selenium. However, some varieties are more nutritious than others, especially when it comes to protein. For instance, the ancient grains spelt and teff contain 10.7 and 9.7 grams of protein per cooked cup, respectively. The pseudocereals amaranth and quinoa come in a close second with 9.3 and 8.1 grams of protein per cooked cup, respectively.
