Weekly Meeting Invitation (May 10th, 2022)

Good Afternoon Fellow Rotarians!

Hope you are all doing well. It was nice to see members and their guests at our first Fellowship dinner of 2022 held at Swiss Chalet last week, nicely organized by Rotarian Chris/Coco. I'm sure all of us are looking forward to the next one already.
Over the weekend KGMers were busy handing out hundreds of flyers in DH gathering places to raise awareness for the upcoming Charity Bazaar on May 15th from 10am to 6pm . This is expected to be a huge event so please sign up if you can volunteer. Details enclosed, feel free to pass it around.

Our next lunch meeting is tomorrow (Wednesday)

He focuses on using his skills to work towards contributing to projects that focus on sustainability.  We will have the chance to try his brew.

Rotary Fact:

Starting New Rotary Clubs

Almost every day a new Rotary club is chartered in one of the more than 200 countries in which Rotary exists. This steady growth in new clubs is extremely important in extending the worldwide programs and influence of Rotary International.

New Rotary clubs may be established anywhere in the world where the fundamental principles of Rotary may be freely observed.

A club must be organized to serve a specific “locality” or clearly identified territory in which there are enough business or professional persons of good character engaged in proprietary or management positions. A minimum of 35 potential classifications is necessary for a proposed new club, and from that list a permanent membership of at least 20 members must be enrolled.

Today in History:

1775: Second Continental Congress convenes in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and issues paper currency for 1st time
1901: Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose, Indian scientist, in the hall of the Royal Society, London, which was packed with eminent scientists today on May 10, 1901 proved that "plants and animal have similar touch sense"
1940: Winston Churchill becomes prime minister of Britain
1994: Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s first Black president, is inaugurated

Quote of the day: (Happy Birthday to Buddha!)
52. “If you knew what I know about the power of giving, you would not let a single meal pass without sharing it in some way.” (BUDDHA)
