It was sad to hear that Ann Stechman had died on Tuesday Morning ending her valiant struggle with Cancer.
Our deepest Sympathy goes out to Peter, Elliot and Krittika and their loved Mihi and all her family for their sad loss.
Those who knew Ann couldn't help to be impressed by her commitment to continue serving older citizens here in Mosgiel, always making herself available for long hours when called on.
She continued even while keeping her own illness highly confidential.
Ann's funeral will be in Ashburton on Friday at 1.30 pm at St David's Union Church 48 Allens Road.

We had two Taieri Students who were finalists of the speech contest and the worthy winner was Mia Warman, runner-up was Zack Henry, If we are sending her to the area selection for the district competition the rules below will be applied. She will need to be advised of these rules and alter her speech to comply. Hopefully this will be done.

What are the basic rules for students entering the contest?
Contestants may be in Year 12 or 13 and attend school within District 9980.
Contestants can choose their own topic, but the speech must be based on the application of the Four Way Test, with the principles running clearly throughout the entire speech and not just reserved for concluding statements.
The time is to be no less than five minutes and no more than six minutes. A warning bell will be sounded at the end of five minutes and a final bell at the end of six minutes.
Three judges and a timekeeper are needed for each contest.
The use of microphone, palm cards and visual aids are options open to each contestant.
Finalists will compete at the District Conference, which is held mid- May, and a commitment is required for them to be present at this.

The winner will receive a prize to the value of $1,000 2nd prize is $500 , 3rd prize is $300 and $200 for 4th.

Health minister Dr David Clark, National Party MP Michael Woodhouse, Dunedin City Councillor Mike Lord and Otago Regional Council Chairman Stephen Woodhead will all be dropping during the morning.
For $10, men 16 and over, can drop in to the RSA on their way to work, school or other activities. They can choose from a selection of breakfast items, be eligible for spot prizes and get health information all in one location. A DeWalt Tools ‘Fastest Time’ Competition sponsored by Mitre 10, a ‘Pedal for a smoothie’ and a variety of raffle prizes ranging from a U-Fly voucher from the Otago Aeroclub to food vouchers from our supportive local business community will also be available for purchase.
Money raised will support the Movember Foundation and the new Taieri Aquatic Centre project.
