 Pool Fundraising Report by Irene and Peter To date, the Fundraising Committee, which includes Rotarians Irene Mosley (Trust Chairperson), Bob Campbell (Committee Chairman) and Peter Shanks, have a total of approximately $750,000 raised in cash and pledges. As a group we are immensely proud and grateful for the generous contributions our Mosgiel Rotary Club has made to this very worthy and essential community facility. Rotary, including our club, Taieri & The Carisbrook fund have raised: $267,000 approx. This includes: Personal giving by Club members (Cash and Pledges)$154,000 approx. Total needed for naming rights for Learners Pool: $350,000 Balance required: $ 83,000 We are about to work with the Taieri Club to ask the inner City clubs to support us in our endeavour as we know that this project is of benefit to the whole city; not just Mosgiel. The reason for this report is to thank all who have given so generously, of time and or money and to ask members who are yet to confirm whether or not they can commit to let us know. We really need a commitment, not necessarily the money, by the 31st March which is the DCC’s first deadline and the end of this financial year to claim your tax rebate. This commitment need not be in cash as it can be in the form of a pledge over the next 1-5 years. Although this pledge is not legally binding, the DCC will match these pledges dollar for dollar which allows us as a committee to get closer to our target. For example $1,000.00 donated per year for 5 years would attract a rebate of $333 back to you each year. Along with the $5000 subsidy from the council, this means $10,000 towards the pool. If just 200 people did this, $2million dollars would be raised!! How can people help us achieve these goals? - By donating themselves.
- By referring potential givers, eg. Family and friends, to our committee members.
We are happy to follow up and answer any questions they may have. Thank you again to all our Rotarians who have generously supported us. We are really proud of the way Rotary has stepped up and can genuinely say that the project may have faltered by now without you all. |
