Mosgiel Rotary Book sale 2017

Saturday 9th Sept. 9.00am - 5.00pm

Sunday 10th Sept. 9.00am - 1.00 pm.

Notice to members.

The team organising the book sale need some help on Thursday 7th Sept to set up at the bowling club .

then on Fri. Sat. Sun, especially after 1.00 pm on Sunday, to clean up.

Please put these dates in your diary because Michael requires volunteers to help on Thursday the 7th with tables in the morning and for carting books after lunch.

215 Main South Road Green Island. 6 pm for 6.30 pm. Barry has already got 40 people coming, last chance to RSVP Monday's meeting.

Three choices on menu; please pre- order your preferred choice, from the attached menu. A list will be circulated on Monday for those attending to fill in, those absent on Monday can ring Barry 4847107. Pre-ordering is very helpful and allows faster service from the chef.

The venue has a good reputation for excellent meals.

Plant a tree for every Rotarian

Plant a tree
AG Claire Ramsay has organisied the Dunedin clubs to join together to answer the RI President’s call for all Rotarians to plant a tree this Rotary year.
They are going to Sinclair Wetland on Saturday 2 September to plant trees.
Claire being"a good ol' country girl" has invited Mosgiel,Taieri, Milton and Balclutha clubs to join them and make it a meet your neighbour event. If we end up with 100+ people (great family opportunity) we should be able to create some media cover for it and profile for Rotary.
The deal is that Glen at the wetlands will provide half the trees and we buy the balance – but actually he will buy them because of the native programme at the wetlands which means not just any tree can be planted. He gets them for between $1.15 to $8 each so it won’t be an onerous expense spread around the clubs.
As far as gear goes – Glen suggested one spade per three planters – one person digs, one person plants and one person puts the protection around the tree. A pocket knife could also be handy.
Final details re timing not established (to be confirmed) yet but it is thought we should aim to either start or finish with a lunch time BBQ/BYO.
Our club has agreed to be involved, it is the day after the Pub night so fresh air will do you good. Please mark it your calendar as a full turn out of members would be terrific.
