I was sorry that I was absent on Monday, Pam and I were attending the funeral of one of Pam's fellow Innerwheel members one of the founding members of the Balclutha Innerwheel club and a close friend who had retired to Clyde.

The Grow-house is finished, the plants, pots and compost delivered, now it is up to the young gardeners of the Silverstream Primary School to grow the 400-450 plants on to planting size.
Many of the plants are already of a good size and have been potted in 2 Litre pots, the smaller ones into 1 Litre pots. With regular watering they should thrive for planting up later in the year.

Nicola Foot of the ORC has organised a suitable site along puddle alley for the planting. Before the next stage of planting, weed mats and plant guards will need to be purchased to give them a good start. See photos attached.

But it's harder to keep pastures green in Ashburton than Mosgiel.
Eric and Carol's pride has been in their beautiful garden not in pastures that's a farmers problem, not a plumbers.
It is with deep regret that we are bidding Eric and Carol farewell. We wish them many years of good health and happiness in their new home.
Eric has given tremendous service to his club and over the years has served in most leadership roles in the Mosgiel Rotary Club.
No doubt Eric will continue his involvement with Rotary in Ashburton where there are two Clubs to pick from. The Ashburton Club meets on a Tuesday evening and the Ashburton Plains Club on a Wednesday evening. He will find it difficult to adjust when he has been going to Rotary on a Monday evening for over 50 years.
But he could be heading to a Golfers paradise and this could be his second home?

For our special meeting for Christmas last Monday we all went to the Beach. No body got sand on their shoes and ventured. on to the Beach. So nobody had to be rescued
While we watched from the clubhouse the surfers were having a wonderful time.
