We had a great night at Rotary tonight with 31 members and guests and an entertaining speaker. It was a pleasure as President to welcome a new member to the club. Wayne Stephenson is married to Ralene and they have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Wayne had a long history with the fire service but is now retired. We all look forward to getting to know him and enjoy his company as a club member. Our guests were Gerald and Karen Holmes from Henley, Gerald has freely given off his time the last two times we have cleaned up the Mosgiel sign and has supplied the commercial sprayer which makes the Wet and Forget application so much easier. Thank you Gerald.  Theresa Hills was our guest speaker and our 2025 RYLA candidate. Theresa is doing her second year of training as a nurse and is loving her study, While she was an unwilling starter for RYLA and had to be pressured to her week in Queenstown it was a life changing event and she was a very enthusiastic finisher and has now joined the Rotaract Club of Dunedin. A very worthwhile sponsor for the Mosgiel Club. We want to extend best wishes to Barry Milburn for a speedy recovery from surgery. 

 

The Dunedin City Council (DCC) is intending to develop a reserve management plan for the Mosgiel Recreation Area, which includes the Mosgiel Memorial Gardens, Mosgiel Memorial Park, Te Puna o
Whakaehu, Peter Johnstone Park and the Murray Street Playground. It also includes the Silverstream Esplanade Reserve, a green area which allows pedestrians and cyclists to access the Mosgiel
Recreation Area.
The statement of proposal sets out background information, what is being proposed, reasons for the proposal, how submissions on the proposal may be made and how long the consultation period will
run for.

The Directors would like members to consider any concepts relating to this plan to be discussed at Club on Monday 10 March, for the purpose of proposing and developing a submission for helping our local community.

Welcome to our Rotary Club of Mosgiel new member Wayne Stephenson.  A retired fire fighter, we look forward to getting to know Wayne, his wife Ralene and family.

Berwick Camp House requires some maintenance to be carried out, painting internally, garden tidy and completion of external painting that is high up.  Day for the working bee to be advised.  

 

The benches installed by our club several years ago between Wingatui bridge and Caryle road need maintenance.  Repairs to some of the seats and painting.

A big thank you to Jill Craw for organising School and class lists, completing all the names within the Dictionaries on behalf of Taieri and Mosgiel Clubs.  The dictionaries are currently being distributed to local schools.  As always the recipients and teachers are delighted to received their own dictionaries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All members, friends and families are welcome to join the clubs coffee mornings, they are held on Monday on the week between meetings at the Black sheep Cafe. Next coffee meeting 17th Feb. We turn up on or about about 10.30am,  Keep an eye out on the Sunday for a text message reminding members of the coffee morning.
