Clutha District Mayor Bryan Cadogan was our guest speaker for change over night. Mayor Cadogan was positive about the districts future. For the first time in many years the districts population had increased. He noted that Milton in particular had the best natural advantages within the Clutha District. Milton has flat land, high traffic flows, and a number of strong companies based close by. The Mayor stated that the districts most pressing concern was a lack of housing and the age of the existing house stock.
In relation to Milton the Mayor spoke about the 2.2 million upgrade proposed for Milton's main street and the construction of new toilets. Decisions need to be made about the swimming pool and the location of the i-site. Both have major maintenence issues. Perhaps his best news was a 7% reduction in rates for Milton. Our Mayor urged locals to get involved in the towns future.
