Ross was born in Milton in 1959 and attended the local schools. He started a building apprenticeship with Hamilton Building and Joinery after leaving high school. Ross trained under his cousin Bert Pringle. Ross learnt to work hard under Bert’s direction. Bert is legendary for his work ethic and has been on hand for Ross’s building projects through the years.

Ross married Jennifer Jack in 1990. They have three daughters. Ella, Lucy, and Georgia. Ross built his first house in 1984 at the age of 21, his second house in 1990 and third in 1992. This was all in his spare time. Ross also built a house for his father-in law Bob Jack in 1992. Ross mentioned how grateful he is for the influence Bob has had on his life.

Ross left Hamilton Building in 1996 and started working for Calder Stewart Construction as a Project Manager. He is still there today and finds it an interesting and progressive company to work for.

Ross and Jennifer’s three girls have all attended school in Milton and gone on to Otago University. His interests are vintage cars and motorcycles and things automotive in general. Holidays are often in Wanaka.
