esentation from Zayde Francis on his experience attending Outward Bound in January 2020. He also represented Robert Wilson who attended the same Outward Bound programme (Robert was away representing the school at the South Island Hockey Championships so was unable to attend).Zayde opened his presentation by saying this is the most amazing thing he has been involved in during his life so far - a life changing event. He shared a video from Robert then talked about his experience. He said every day was amazing, even when you were really tired from tramping 10 hours per day for 3 days!
The solo experience allowed for some down time and Zayde spent most of his time writing poetry. Kayaking, sailing and training for the half marathon were all activities the young people were involved in over the 3 week journey. He expressed his thanks to the Rotary club for their support for both Robert and himself for helping provide this opportunity.
Zayde is not only Head Boy at Tokomairiro High School, he has also been appointed captain of the South Otago High School First XV. His plans from 2021 include completing a double degree in Marketing and Sports Management.
We thank Zayde for his presentation and wish him all the very best for the future.
