Here is a report from Graham Beach on the progress of the Hippo Rollers project.
The amount raised by this initial support was Mosgiel $2000.00, Taieri $2000.00, Milton and Balclutha both $1000.00. TOTAL $6000.00
Taking $5000.00 of the TOTAL we applied for and received as a District Grant $5000.00 ie dollar for dollar.
This $10,000.00 was sent to Hipporollers In South Africa on January 3rd—the exchange rate on that date resulted in just below USD7000.00 which has resulted in 46 hipporollers being purchased—yet to be delivered.
The Mosgiel Charitable Trust currently has $1000 held as $250.00 from our 4 clubs (plus $400.00 from 2 private donations for 2 rollers). This allows us to qualify for a grant of $USD10,000 from the 9980 District Designated Fund (DDF). The plan (in progress) is for this to join a Global Grant application which the Rotary Club of Chatswood Sunrise in Sydney is trying to put together—I understand the holdup being finding a supportive Rotary Club in South Africa—one which can oversee the distribution of the rollers purchased. I understand (last week) that this hurdle may have been overcome and Chatswood Sunrise is completing their application. When they have completed this I have asked for it to be sent to Trish Boyle (9980 Rotary Foundation Chair and DG Bruce Cowan) so they can edit it and maybe improve and approve it as they see fit.

So a BIG THANK YOU for your Clubs' support, and as you can see fantastic support from the various fund custodians in District 9980. They too have obviously thought this project very worthy of their support.
