The Rotary Clubs of Jodhpur Roundtown, Calcutta Millenium and Belur in Rotary District 3050, India, jointly sponsored a $250,000 Global Grant for the construction of a 15-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the Kurmitola General Hospital. Speaking to local members of the Rotary Clubs of Dhaka, Metropolitan Dhaka and Uttara at the handing over ceremony, Tipu Munshi, Commerce minister and a member of RC of Uttara said that since COVID-19 has yet to be conquered world-wide, Bangladesh needs more facilities to combat the virus. He observed that the modern HDU “is a great example of great work done by an international organization like Rotary. Our efforts will continue to strengthen the capacity in the health sector through such partnerships.”
 
Rotary District 6490 (IL) received a $25,000 Rotary Foundation Relief Grant to assist Gibson City, IL residents with flood relief. The area received approximately 9 to 11 inches of rain in eight hours on Aug. 12. Homes and businesses were extensively damaged. Rotary clubs and Rotarians worked together to purchase and deliver supplies, and donate funds to the Rotary Club of Gibson City. The $25,000 grant will cover replacement and installation of hot water heaters, furnaces and small appliances such as stoves and refrigerators. Funds will also provide materials to repair walls and floors damaged by water.
