Zach Stack offered the invocation after we recited the Pledge and The Four Way Test. It was announced that visitation for David Lundeen (who died on February 26, 2020) will be at Olson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the funeral service the following day, August 27th, at Federated at 11:00 a.m. Club members were reminded to wear a Rotary emblem as frequently as possible and certainly to meetings on Wednesdays. There was a tradition, now being revisited, to fine club members at meetings if they did not have a Rotary lapel bin, shirt or something other than the badge they wear at meetings to signify they are a Rotarian. So forewarned is forearmed! Keith Olson administered a Rotary Minute Plus Quiz and all three questions concerning the on-going Olympics were answered correctly. We then left Bethel Church and seven Rotarians physically went over to Blayze Buseth's studio, The Creation Shop, on 119 N. Mill, to get a tour from him (two Rotarians did the tour virtually). Blayze talked about the progression of his character Tom's life and then showed us around his studio, set up for classes and his own work area. He and his father did a lot of work to reclaim the space, rented from Curt Nyman, and it showed very well. The unique glass storefront is a bit clouded from the inside but Blayze indicated they obtained a quote to replace it and it would cost $12,000 -- not in the budget right now. He has two kilns and, if I recall right, they reach temperatures of 2200º for clay pieces and 2350° for porcelain. His clay comes in 50 pound boxes and stays moist as long as it remains wrapped in plastic -- they cost about $35 a box. This is a great addition to Fergus Falls and we thanked Blayze for his efforts. |
