The Club will hold a holiday social and white elephant gift exchange Wednesday evening, December 17th, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Mabel Murphy's.  Rotarians and spouses are welcome, with appetizers to be provided and a cash bar (free-will donations are encouraged to offset costs).  People are asked to bring a while elephant gift to exchange, which can cost nothing but certainly no more than $20.00.  After exhaustive research (thanks Siri!) I've delved into the meaning of "white elephant" and at least one unreliable source says that it comes from the Thai tradition of the King of Siam giving rare albino elephants to courtiers who had displeased him, so that they might be ruined by the animals' upkeep costs.  The king must have been a Kiwanian!  But please come up with some odd or unusual item to share and join the fun and festivities!
