Kathy Austvold offered our invocation after the traditional singing of the U.S.A. and Canadian national anthems. We took a vote on whether or not to dispense with singing while meeting in the summer and the vote was to rest whatever musical abilities we otherwise would display until next September. It was also announced that Sean Sullivan and Brad Hoganson had resigned as members of Fergus Falls Noon Rotary. Zack Stach said that due to the inclement weather forecast for the next day, we will delay highway cleanup to Thursday, May 19th. Randy Kempfer brought Josh the Otter water safety books to the meeting for members to apply a club sticker; we will hand them out at the public schools after our meeting tomorrow. It was also announced that Sunrise Rotary had decided to dispense with the golf tournament for this summer, which amounts to a $3,000 hit to the income side of our fundraising budget. We also learned that Steve Leitte was at Lake Region Healthcare's community garden on behalf of the club and tilled it to ready the ground for seeding.
We then launched into Brags & Fines: John MacFarlane rose to thank Buzz Lundeen for advice on how to start a misbehaving pickup; Hal Leland contributed for missing three meetings; Buzz Lundeen paid ahead by noting he will miss this week's meeting; and Keith Olson reported he will be missing in action the next two weeks and spoke highly of Hal (if I read my abbreviated notes correctly). Tim Bosworth was then introduced as our program, talking about his fish guiding business and the lures he creates under the name of Out of the Blue. Tim was a member of our club from 2006 to 2015, serving as its president in 2012-13. Tim is still at Walmart in human relations and is responsible for hiring employees for our local store. Tim is a life-long fisherperson and said he has been guiding all his life but has now turned that into a business. He showed us various artificial baits he has created and said he was happy that the artificial lure business has changed since the first year he got involved in that now others are willing to partner with him in providing components for his fish tackle. Tim spoke highly of the high school fishing teams that have been created, believing they will keep this sport alive for younger generations well nto the future. His lures can be purchased at Little Chief Outpost and you can otherwise contact him by calling 218-731-5988, e-mail to timboz84@gmail.com or visit his website -- outofthebluefishingtackle.com. I myself have been out with Tim twice and would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a good guide in Otter Tail County.
