Please double your effort to sell raffle tickets as post time is this Thursday, July 10th at 5:00 p.m. If you need more tickets, they are now in this writer's possession, and you can contact me on my cell (218-205-6944) or by e-mail at robert@russelllawoffice.com. We really need at least a couple members who can show up at Shop Move'n Groove and try to sell more tickets, with vendors setting up for the event's 4:00 p.m. start time. Thus, we have less than an hour to get as many tickets sold as possible (or you can try to sell to other vendors before 4:00 p.m. as they set up) and then we need volunteers before and after to set up for the race, serve as official observers and cheerleaders and round-up the ducks afterwards. All the duck calls that were distributed a couple years ago should be found and heard clearly at the start and finish of the race! And hopefully there will be enough of us wanting to get a drink and maybe a pizza to make it a fun celebration afterwards - tentative plans are to assemble at Socials but verify at the Derby.
This past Saturday Hal Leland, Steve Leitte, Lisa McFarland and this writer sold 29 raffle tickets at the Fergus Falls Farmers Market. The easiest sells were when little children wandered over to our set-up to see the big stuffed duck and some sample racers, with parents encouraged to bring their kids to the race.
It was a nice day for Rotarians to visit while at the same time get a few raffle tickets sold. Thanks to those that helped out. Finally, looking for the black scarf that was holding the stuffed duck's head up - if not going to use it I would like to give it back to the friend that made it for us.
