Our invocation was offered by Anthony Nordan, sandwiched between recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance and The Four Way Test. Announcements brought the regrettable news of Greg Darling's resignation from the Club, members being encouraged to sell Lucky Duck Derby tickets, and a positive response from Anthony Nordan on behalf of himself and his intern, Camon Landry, when volunteers for set-up and take-down tomorrow were solicited. You might say our own Salvation Army, but I won't.
During the brag and fine segment, there were many nice compliments directed this writer's way, for which I am extremely grateful, including remarks by Tim Hunt, Wally Cole and Hal Leland (if I missed someone, I was too busy trying to maintain my composure and it was not intentional). Hal Leland also contributed for missing the past three meetings and surviving a terrible outing on Lake of the Woods. John MacFarlane reported being on the reviewing stand the past Saturday morning, June 26, to witness the demolition of the Hoot Lake coal burning plant, parts of which had been on the site for over 60 years. It took a matter of seconds. Buzz Lundeen reported on his great success in selling Lucky Duck Derby tickets and we thank him for his efforts.
The only thing I am going to say about last week's program is that I truly meant it when I said I was grateful for the opportunity and honored to be President of the Fergus Falls Noon Rotary Club in 2021-22 and value the service, fellowship and friendship you each offer. Now this week we will hear from President Ken Harty as he takes the reigns for what promises to be an exciting 2022-23 Rotary year.
