Nadia Carlson was our special guest, along with her parents, Steve and Michelle. Steve is the owner of Eddie's Insulation while Michelle works at Lincoln School. Nadia is a senior at the high school, involved in many activities including student government and Key Club, is a National Honor Student and plans on attending M State next year, ultimately getting her college degree at Boston College. Nadia was recognized for submitting a Four Way Test essay on utilizing the Test in difficult or tough conversations. She read us her essay, except for the concluding paragraph, which reads: "In the end, you have successfully started a fair, kind, and authentic conversation with that friend. Putting [the Four Way Test] into practice will help us build those connections that we humans need to survive. Overall, if each person reflects upon these questions when having a tough conversation, our society as a whole will begin to thrive. Because the majority of the population struggle with communicating in a kind yet authentic manner, practicing using this test can improve the quality of life of so many people out there. So, instead of leaving things unsaid, sit down and discuss." President Ryan presented Nadia with a $100 check in honor of her essay.
