Most Rotarians have very little interaction with the Rotary District of which we are a part, Number 5580. But that does not mean our lives as Rotarians is not affected by a smooth running, supportive District. The assistance and direction club leaders receive from those invested in not only improving their own club but the entire Rotary experience for Rotarians throughout District 5580 cannot be overstated. One person who plays a pivotal role in that regard is our District Administrator, Gloria Mink. (Yes, she is compensated by the District, but not nearly as much as she is worth.) It is therefore terribly sad to report that Gloria's eleven-year-old son died unexpectedly this past Sunday from an undiagnosed condition, notwithstanding Gloria's heroic efforts to administer CPR until they were airlifted to Minneapolis Children's Hospital. You most likely have never heard of Gloria but our hearts ache for her and her family. We will pass a sympathy card around at tomorrow's meeting and ask all Rotarians in attendance to sign it for sending to them.
