Speakers - Ben Baker and Justine Cormack

Violinists

This week we have violinisits Ben and Justine to talk to us. Thier topic is "World premier performance."

A small background on each:

• Benjamin Baker was born in New Zealand and studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music where he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rose Bowl. In 2013 he won 1st Prize at the Windsor International Competition and was a prize-winner at the YCAT International Auditions in London.  He was a Fellow at the  Ravinia Festival’s Steans Music Institute in Chicago in 2016 and 2017.   His first CD for Champs Hill Records was released in 2015 and immediately went to No.12 in the Classical Charts.

• Justine Cormack is a graduate of the University of Canterbury. She has a Masters degree from San Francisco Conservatory and a Doctoral degree from Stony Brook in New York. She has taught violin at Wellington’s Victoria University and also held a position as Violin Lecturer at The University of Auckland. She maintained a private teaching studio and uses online technology to teach and coach people around the world.
