Meet at Muritai Park entrance on Muritai Road, Eastbourne opposite Karamu Street ready to start walking at 9:30am.

Map is here:   http://www.gw.govt.nz/assets/Parks-and-Recreation/East-Harbour/EHRPNorthbrochuremap2007.pdf

We will head up the hill for about 30 minutes where we meet the intersection of all the tracks leading down to Butterfly Creek.  The track has a difficulty rating of intermediate.  It is fairly steep at first, but the track is level and well groomed.  Boots probably a good option, given the wet weather we have had, but not necessary.  Alternatively make sure you have sturdy shoes.  Even if it is sunny bring some warm clothing and a rain jacket as a precaution.

The Greater Wellington Regional Council site shows the walk in to the picnic area will take about 1 hour 30 minutes.  (We’ve done it in much less in years past). We will stop for a tea break at the creek for about 20 minutes.  Bring a thermos of tea or your favourite beverage.

We’ll head back out and arrive at Heather’s just after noon.

Heather Lucas has graciously offered to host us after the walk.  She lives at 58 Oroua St, which is one block away from the track entrance/exit.

Lets hope the horrid weather of this week and weekend has blown itself out before next weekend.  If the weather turns really nasty (organisers interpretation not yours) and we need to cancel we will contact you.  Expect it to go ahead rain or shine.

Please RSVP by 6pm Friday 26 June if you are coming.  Ensure your mobile number is included in the response.

Look forward to seeing you.
