Tomorrow, Wednesday the 13th we will be golfing with members of the Superior Rotary Club starting at 1:30 at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior. Join us if you can. Play 9 or 18. The golf season is coming to an end. Get out one more time. 

 

This Saturday the 16th we will hand out water and cheer on skaters starting at 7:30 AM until about 11:00 at Lemon Drop Hill to support the the In Line Marathon. 

  

Jason Young has agreed to join the Board as the Foundation Chair. Thank you to Ross for his years of service. The revived Paul Harris Dinner will take place on Wednesday, October 25th. November is Foundation month.

 

Past President Brian Tasky shared the news that their 7th baby is on the way. With a bunch of kids and many businesses to mange he is regretfully resigning from the Club. Thank you for your service Brian and we welcome you to come back to visit us. 

 

We were saddened to hear the news that Karl and Sandy Norman's son Shawn passed away. The visitation will be this Friday at 5:00 at Daugherty's Funeral Home. So much sadness for their family.   

 

Our guests at last week's meeting were David's daughter Emily, Dan Dock, and our speaker Cameron Kruger. Cameron spoke to us about his involvement in the organization Gender Justice which is a 10 year old non-profit organization whose mission is to advance gender equity so that people of all genders have a right to bodily autonomy, safety, health, and opportunity. Gender Equity accomplishes its mission through workplace training, discrimination mediation, document review, conference presentations, and legal advocacy. Cameron has a strong personal involvement in these issues that he speaks about along with his daughter Anna on a regular podcast named The Transgenda. 

Rotary wishes for its members to understand diversity, equity, and inclusion. This presentation helped us to learn more about DEI. We are fortunate to have a safe space to discuss what could be difficult issues.  In a couple of weeks we will hear a presentation about mental health that may also be difficult to hear, but is a problem and an opprotunity that Rotary can address.   

   

September is Rotary Basic Education and Literacy Month. A good month for our new Board Youth Services duo Alex and Emily to connect with our schools.
