Starting the year off with good financial news! It was discovered by Joe that the Cloquet Rotary Club had not paid us for the peaches they received from us about $7,000.
Feb 2 @ 2 pm Rotarians Eating Food We will be headed to the Vermilion Club, 3191 County Road 77, Tower MN, to try our palate out on the World Famous "Bamboozler" 4 star rated pizza on Yelp and Tripadvisor. For those that are to full to drive home you are invited to stay at the 3 star (winter accommodations) Curtis Cabin, 4457/59 Moccasin Point Rd, just a short drive from the Vermilion Club. Five double rooms available plus a couple pullout couches. Bring your winter gear and get outside! For more info contact Chris @ chris.sward@amiengineers.com
Splash Pad Update – feedback needed
The feasibility committee is looking at MANY factors in making good, data-driven decisions on the splash pad question. All will be brought to the club, and I want to keep everyone continually informed.
Everyone (including me) is focusing on location, but we need to step back from that. The Duluth metro area is large enough to support 3-4 splash pads, but we need to be focused on the process.
Initially, we need a written mission/purpose as a guide for all decisions. That's our current task.
The committee discussed including a few items in the mission statement:
- Family-friendly, safe, healthy environment
- Reasonable public transit access
- Provide to under-served kids (this was defined differently than under-privileged)
- Work to maximize rotary contribution and visibility there
I would like to hear any other ideas from you our members (including what and why) to be discussed for inclusion in the mission. Let me know your thoughts, please.
