Rotary visits Duluth Curling Club
Skyline Rotary held their weekly meeting on March 18th at the Duluth Curling Club. Chris Plys, a curler on the 2022 United States Mixed Doubles and Men's Olympic Teams, spoke to our club about the charity work through Project Joy, started by his family in honor of their father Patrick. Project Joy helps to feed hungry children throughout the northland. More information on this amazing charity can be found here: Project Joy
Chris also spoke about his Olympic experience this year in Beijing, some of the highlights of his very successful curling experiences in juniors, mixed doubles and men's curling teams, his family ties to Duluth, and his curing experience at the Duluth Curling Club.
Korey Dropkin also spoke to our club about his work with the Sports Matter charity that gives financial assistance to children who could otherwise not afford to participate in sports. Korey also curls for one of the United States curling teams as the skip of the "Young Bucks" team and has also had a very successful curling background, winning several junior, mixed and men's titles throughout his career.
The Duluth Curling Club has more current Olympic curlers in it's membership than any other club in the country.
After the meeting, members of our Rotary club were treated with photo opportunities and a chance to learn how to how to curl, getting pro tips from Korey Dropkin out on the ice.
