Our Guest Speaker on Monday is District Governor Steve Chaney
Steve grew up and was educated in Christchurch, the second youngest of 5 children. He graduated with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Canterbury and for post graduate studies from Massey University he passed a Diploma in Business in Accounting, Marketing and HR. After graduating he moved to the North Island, to pursue employment opportunities within the Chemical industry. Kapuni, Taranaki first, then onto Auckland where he established a 40 Year career with NZ Farmers Fertiliser which became Fernz Corporation and then Nufarm. During this time, he has held a number of positions which included roles in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Logistics and Computers specializing in Animal Health, Human Health, Agricultural Chemicals, Fertilizers and Industrial Chemicals. Steve is currently Chief Executive for Peter Hay Kitchens, Manukau.

Steve joined the Rotary Club of Papatoetoe in October 1984 and was Club President in 1988/89. To accommodate the demands of a young family of 4 children and both himself and Edith, his wife, working fulltime, would see him become the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Manukau City Sunrise, 1998/2000. He took on the President role again for the Club's 20th Anniversary Year in 2018/2019.
 
At the District level he has been 9920 Conference Chair in 1989, 2004 and 2010. He and Edith were committee members for the Australia NZ Exchange Programme,1989/97, Step-Up Young Adult Leadership Programme Inaugural year 2006 till 2011, and members on the Fellowship and Hiking RAG. Assistant Governor 1996 and 2019. Together they have been RYPEN Camp Mum & Dad 2013 and 2014. They have hosted participants of GSE teams from Turkey, Germany, Louisiana USA, and Canada. Their club hosted a ROMAC sponsored child, Matilda, from Vanuatu for two visits for heart surgery at Starship Hospital.
