Background: The Community Centre provides practical assistance and a safe space for rough sleepers. It is an opportunity for Mission staff to engage with the homeless and work towards addressing the wider issues they face. Haeata kitchen serves a nutritious breakfast and a takeaway lunch bag 365 days of the year to the homeless community. Approximately 80 – 200 people attend the meal service each day.

We Rotary Club volunteers, will be working in the kitchen alongside the chef to make and prepare food items for the takeaway lunch bag service. Tasks include, preparing food, packing and labelling food for distribution. General kitchen duties such as dishes and cleaning before, during and after service, stacking of shelves, topping up supplies, maintaining cleanliness in the dining room and back of house areas during service.
