Weekly meeting – Tuesday 15/10/2019
Nick Tuitasi QSM
Family First NZ – Pasifika & Church Engagement
Nick Tuitasi served with the New Zealand Police for 25 years – much of it on the front lines. In 1992 he was stationed at the Mt Roskill Station, where he primarily worked with young offenders who failed in the school system and were influenced by gang culture. Under his guidance the Mt Roskill Police piloted a ground-breaking youth initiative to help curb an increasing gang problem. This became the blueprint for 45 Police projects throughout NZ working with at-risk youth and their families.
For many years Nick has been a trustee of Family First New Zealand, which is a Christian lobby group founded in March 2006 with the stated objective to "seek to influence public policy affecting the rights and protection of families and promote a culture that values the family”. Earlier this year he became a spokesman for the organisation.
Nick is concerned as to the impact that legalising cannabis will have on our society. It is primarily on this subject that he will talk to us on Tuesday.
Please note:
