Chelsey Malstrom, the bar’s owner
Our meeting and program were at the Clarity Wine bar in Detroit Lakes. Chelsey Malstrom, the bar’s owner, previously worked at Seven Sisters Liquor Store. The Clarity Wine bar offers a variety of food, mocktails, beer, and wine, with popular wine flights featuring four wines with different options. The name “Clarity” reflects the importance of wine clarity, and Malstrom found her passion for wine during culinary school. She credits Amy Stearns of Project 412 for encouraging her to open the bar on June 13th.
The Clarity Wine bar is open Wednesday through Sunday from 2 pm to 9 pm, with private events on Mondays and Tuesdays. Malstrom is preparing a new menu with seasonal wines. She can't sell of sale but can reseal unfinished opened bottles for customers to take with them. Staffing is a concern, but she currently has three staff members, including one in the kitchen and two servers. The building has 35 seats, with an additional 12 seats available outdoors if the weather permits. Gift cards are available for interested customers.
