Hello Rotaractor! This week at Rotaract... Our board will meet at 6:00pm and our club meeting will follow at 7:00pm, both tentatively scheduled to be at Jobsite Brewing (45 Cambria Street, Stratford) in the rear venue. We understand that there has been concern in regards to noise and the reduced ability to hear and our club executives are working on a solution. Club President and President Elect will be meeting with Jobsite Brewing Tuesday to discuss opportunity to provide a better experience. An update will be provided to the club prior to Wednesdays club meeting This week, our guest speaker is Charlene Gordon, L'Arche Stratford. L’Arche Stratford purchased the former Montessori School at 426 Britannia Street in 2017. Offering 20,000 sf of space over three levels, this new-to-us building – when renovated - will enable L’Arche Stratford to provide six accessible suites for individuals with and without intellectual disabilities who will follow the L’Arche model of inclusive living. 426 Britannia Street will also provide badly needed activity and programming spaces for disabled individuals seeking to use ‘Passport’ dollars for training and social interaction. Finally, the building will address L’Arche Stratford’s currently cramped administrative office needs. In fact, we will be able to lease office and meeting rooms to other not-for-profit groups - which will provide a service to them while creating an income stream to assist with L’Arche Stratford’s sustainability. We look forward to hearing club updates from our trivia committee, Jobsite Trivia Committee, venue updates, board updates and open club conversation. Club Updates... Our "Serves you Right" Volleyball Tournament was held on Saturday February 29th and was a success. Thank you to our volunteers that helped throughout the day as we were able to raise $800 for the Matilda Street Beach Court Improvements. A huge thank you to all the teams involved with the tournament, it would not be possible without your support and congratulations to this years winner "Beach Please", who generously donated their entry fee and prize money back to the fundraiser, a huge thank you to the team members! A full update will be provided to the club. Our Last Rotaract Meeting... Our last meeting was held on February 27th and was a service meeting. The service meeting consisted of baking cup cakes to donate to the Stratford Humane Society's fundraiser. Thank you to Sarah Merkel for generously facilitating the service meeting and thank you to the members that were able to help bake and decorate. Announcements... - Rotaract Board Highlights
