Robert Koehne will introduce Malcolm Horton who's talk is entitled “Trans-Mongolian Railway and More. A 9,000 km Train Ride”
At the age of 28 Malcolm went overseas for the first time in his life. He and his family headed to the Middle East to work and live for five years. During that time, each year he and the family travelled for six weeks exploring Europe, United States of America and Asia.
However, it wasn’t until he returned to Adelaide that he was able to tick two of his big bucket items off his travel list. He went solo to the Antarctic in 2004 and he and his wife Jane travelled on the Trans Mongolian Railway in 2007. A journey of 9,000kms from Xian in China to St Petersburg in Russia. Malcolm tonight is going to talk about train travel through three large countries – China, Mongolia and Russia, including Siberia.
Jane has written a HAIKU
"Travelling on trains
Through vast lands and its people
The Trans railway line"
