Honorary Membership is the highest distinction a Rotary Club can bestow - reserved for those who have made an outstanding contribution to the community, not only through Rotary but across all areas of service.
The Rotary Club of Mount Barker proudly celebrates 15 Honorary Members, whose names read like a “who’s who” of service and selflessness in our region.  At this year’s annual afternoon for Honorary Members, we were delighted to recognise five more remarkable individuals.

Pictured with Past President Mark Clemow are John Wittwer;  a cornerstone of the community of Hahndorf and now a driving force behind the Lobethal Harmony Club. John is also our earliest living former Member, having joined Rotary in 1968, just two years after the Club was founded. Vivienne Pfitzner; honoured for her late husband John’s leadership as Club President in 1995/96, and for their shared contribution to the lifestyle and prosperity of the Adelaide Hills. Darcy Walsh;  Past President in 2005/06, a respected local businessman, and a celebrated football player and administrator.
Absent, but warmly recognised were;  Carola Sanders; who served Rotary for 22 years, as Past President in 2014/15 and a passionate advocate for the Rotary Foundation’s mission to eradicate polio worldwide. Margaret Heath; now residing in Burra, honoured for the legacy of her late husband Robert, Past President in 2010/11, who led many significant projects across our region.

Through Honorary Membership, we celebrate these extraordinary individuals and ensure their contributions receive the recognition they so richly deserve.
