Of special note, is the introduction of the Yr 10 Jeff Hunter Science Award (otherwise known as the RISE Award – Rotary award for Inspiration, Science and Enterprise) Many of you would know this was in memory of a very dear and well respected Rotarian, Jeff Hunter, who sadly passed away during 2017 and the award was in recognition of his undying commitment to education and science.

Further spending was devoted to support the highly regarded environment and education programmes at Calperum Station ($2000). This site has long been a focus area of the club and it is important to note that the outstanding work of one of the founding members (Bob Arnold) of our club, in establishing a Rotary presence at this worthwhile environmental site, will be continued by our new representative on the CATE Committee (Calperum and the Environment) Bruce Cole.

The last focus area for support in the past year has been the club’s support for the Kick Start for Kids programme. ($2650). This is a new venture for the club and has also been supported by funds from other committees. (Community Service).

In closing, I would like to very much thank the members of the Youth and Vocation Committee for working steadfastly for the year on the many projects described above. I have been pleased with the contribution from them all over the last 3 years as Director, and I am sure they will continue to support the new ventures the 2018 – 19 committee takes on.

Bruce Cole

Youth and Vocation Director
