On August 9, Stephanie MacWhirter from Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank spoke to us about their fundraising event on September 25

Stephanie spoke about the Hali-ditarod fundraising event they holding September 25 on the Emera Oval in Halifax. The Hali-ditarod takes the famous Alaskan Iditarod race and replaces the dogs with people, snow gear is replaced by costumes and the sleds are shopping carts. This one-of-a-kind event incorporates a shopping cart race, costume contest, games, and food and fundraising drive to end up with a great time for everyone. It’s a wacky and unique, fun-for-all event for Halifax!

Great Opportunity for the Interact club to have some fun for this event.  Going to ask the Interact Club at Dartmouth High to put a team together and race on race day.The club will sponsor the team at $500.00 (individual Rotarians are donating money towards the cost). Club has to borrow a shopping cart and fill it with groceries. Cart and team to be decorated as we like.   We will need to coordinate the details with the school club once school starts.
